Formula 1 legend and record world champion Michael Schumacher suffered severe injuries at a skiing accident yesterday 11 AM in Meribel. Due to severe head injuries his condition is still critical and life-threatening.

Information is limited although ongoing coverage in TV news.

It is still hard to believe that Schumacher - after all the years in Formula 1 and other motorsport championships he almost always remained unharmed - now got severely injured during a seemingly harmless skiing trip in the French Alps.

Schumacher reportedly wear a helmet which saved his life but still has to fight to death. We will have to wait for further information on the severity of the unjuries he suffered. Already certain is that the process of rehabilitation will take more than only weeks and months.

My thoughts are in this hours are with the family. I wish them all the strength and all the patience to cope with this tragedy.

As Schumache is one of my idols this will be the saddest New Year's Eves I ever had.

Michael Schumacher turns 45 on Januar 3rd, 2014.

Get well soon, Michael!
